1. Have you or anyone in your family ever struggled with your weight? If so, how has that experience shaped your approach to coaching?
I have cousins and close friends that struggle with their weight. I feel like most choose an event to lose weight for then struggle after to continue losing or keep it off. It’s a cycle that continues for months, years, decades. I try to let them know that nutrition is not something you focus on for a short period of time. It should be your norm for the rest of your life! It’s not a fad it’s a lifestyle.

2. What is one thing you wished every customer knew?
Carbs are your friend, people! I wish every knew how essential they are and how they can be utilized to fuel fitness gains and weight loss.

3. How do you survive holidays/birthdays/celebrations healthy style?
I stay conscious of the fact that celebrations are about getting together and being around people and not about food. When I think birthday/holiday/celebrations I think of the good times and make it about that and not the food. Having said that, of course the holidays/birthdays are once a year and won’t derail you in the long run so its ok if you take part in the food there just don’t over indulge to a point in which you are no longer in control of your decisions.

4. What would you say to someone who is convinced they’ll never lose that weight or get healthier?
You are the captain of your ship. It is great to have external motivators and people around you for support. However, the most important person that is going to help you get it done is you! You need to be your biggest supporter and biggest fan. The moment you take responsibility for yourself everything shifts!

5. How do you turn around a bad day?
For every one thing that goes wrong, I think of five things I am grateful for.

6. Why did you choose to be a Weight Loss Coach?
Working in the fitness and weight loss industry for years before I got to see so many hard working clients not lose weight. After seeing so many diet trends and hearing so many theories, it made me want to help filter out all of the complex information and confusion people had regarding nutrition.

7. What’s the one best tip you give someone when coaching?
Weight loss is not Linear. You will see ups and downs but over time you will get to your goal if you stick with it. Focus one day at a time, expect ups and downs, steam roll right through it. When it comes to your health and wellness, the juice is worth the squeeze!

8. Can you tell us about a time when you helped someone through your job and it impacted your life?
I stayed in touch with a member to help them stay on track for 8 months. We would do biweekly check ins to ensure they were staying on track. As time went on it was amazing to not just see the results but to see how much they changed as a person. Self-confidence was through the roof, possibilities were endless, and their mood took a 360. When people say weight loss changed their life I know exactly what they mean. Working with this member made me realize that your true potential is inside of you waiting to come out. For some its weight loss that brings it out. The desire that this member had to be a better version of themselves as well as the joy they felt when reaching their goal is something I apply to situations in my life.

10. What’s your favorite Nutrisystem entrée?

11. How do you fit your exercise in?
I like to get my work out in first thing in the morning. If I miss a morning workout I’ll go after work or later in the evening no matter what time it is. Either way works as long as it gets done by the end of the day. Get it done!

12. What’s a great day at work look like for you?
Hearing a member reach their goal and tell me about all the ups and downs that they went through but how it was completely worth it. I feel like I am sitting at the finish line at the end of a marathon and they just crossed the line. Now, I get to hear about the journey and how inspiring each person is. This inspiration sticks with me and is contagious.

13. When you cheat, what do you choose?
Pizza! I find that 9 times out of 10 it is pizza that creeps its way into my diet when I am on a roll.

14. What are your favorite SmartCarbs?
Sweet potato, black beans, brown rice, fruit. In that order!
