NuMi 101: A Comprehensive Guide to Our Free Tracking App

Wherever you are, you can log your food, water and activities. Plus, our free tracking app dishes out all kinds of helpful tips, exclusive recipes, special offers and app challenges designed to keep you motivated and on track.

NuMi’s features are simple and intuitive but this guide will show you how to become a tracking expert.

Your NuMi journal will become the home-base of your tracking, guiding you through exactly what you should be eating each day. The Journal lays out your program meal by meal. No more confusion or having to remember if PowerFuels are with breakfast or dinner. Whether you’re tracking on the go or keeping note of the details, you will find your favorite go-to features with all the different ways to track in the Journal.

How to Search for a Specific Food:

Searching for a specific PowerFuel? Tap the + next to PowerFuel in your Journal, then tap on the white search bar with the magnifying glass at the top of your screen. This will open a window that lets you search by name for the food you’ve eaten. Simple keywords such as “chicken” or “muffin” will bring up all the relevant results. Or you can narrow the search right from the start by tapping “Search Filter” at the bottom left of the screen. This will allow you to filter by meal occasion (Nutrisystem breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack), food type (PowerFuel, SmartCarb, etc.), select Leaf recipes, branded foods and more.

How to Search for a Specific Food

Dining out at a popular restaurant chain for a Flex meal? No problem! NuMi allows you to log meals from some of the nation’s most popular restaurant chains. You can search by the restaurant’s meal name or even search by typing in the restaurant name to get a list of many of the meal options available from that restaurant. You will easily be able to see how many PowerFuels, SmartCarbs and Extras each meal will contribute to your Nutrisystem plan, so you can select options that align with your Flex meal recommendations.

We’ve started building our database with the top 20 restaurants customers are logging, but plan to continue adding even more restaurant options over time. This will allow you to see how many more restaurant meals count on your Nutrisystem plan, so you can stay on plan while enjoying foods from your favorite restaurant locations!

How to Scan a Food Item:

The app comes with a built-in barcode scanner that’s linked to a complete database of Nutrisystem items. Once you scan, the details of your food will be displayed. Then simply press “Log It” to record in your the Journal. Scanning a Nutrisystem Entrée for Breakfast? Tap the + next to the Breakfast Nutrisystem Entrée, then tap on “Scan Food” button at the top right and use your camera to scan the barcode on the packaging.

Looking to quickly tap and be done? Tap the orange + at the bottom of your Journal and select “Scan” on the far right to scan on the go. At the top of your log, you’ll see your remaining daily calorie count adjust automatically with each item that you record.

How to Log Multiple Foods:

Logging a PowerFuel and a SmartCarb, or two PowerFuels? Save time on any food list with Multiple Select! Tap the plus (+) sign next to your meal category, then either search for a specific food or use the tabs at the top to view your “Recents” and “Favorites.” Tap “Multiple Select” at the top right, then tap the multiple food items you would like to add. Tap “Log” at the top right to save your entry.

If you don’t see the food you’ve eaten on any list, you can still record it. Tap the plus (+) sign next to your meal category, then “Create Food” at the top left of the screen. Good news: you only have to add a custom food once—after that it will always be stored on your “Favorites” list.

How to Quick Log:

You can save time when you’re busy by logging food categories instead of exact foods for each meal. Tap and hold the circular icon of what you ate such as Nutrisystem Entrée or SmartCarb in your Journal. Quick Log estimates the calories based on one serving of the Food Category you’re logging. If you want to go back later and add the specific items, just search for your food item and log! Don’t forget, you can also Quick Log your Vegetables, Water and Activity by tap and holding the large circular icons at the bottom of your Journal.

How to Log Vegetables:

You want to be sure to log your servings of non-starchy vegetables so you remember to consistently hit your goal of four per day. Keep in mind, unless a food is marked as a “Vegetable,” its calories will count toward your daily total. To log vegetables, tap the “Vegetable” category on your meal list and then hit the plus (+) sign to add the vegetables you’ve eaten. If you’re logging more than one vegetable, you can choose “Multiple Select” on the top right, choose each item you’ve eaten, and add them all at once. Veggies sticks on the go? Quick log!

How to Save Favorites:

Clicking the “heart” symbol on any food you like will automatically add it to your “Favorites” list. The items will appear in alphabetical order. If you tend to eat the same dishes over and over again, your “Favorites” list will be a handy shortcut.

How to Log Extras & Others:

Condiments and flavorings such as ketchup, salad dressing, and coffee creamer bump up the taste and satisfaction of your meals, but because they’re low in nutrients you want to limit yourself to just 3 servings of extras day. You can search your Journal using the “Extras” filter in the Log Food screen for a complete list of items in the category. If you’re not seeing your food on the list, you can select “Extra” or “Other” category from the “Count As” list.
